On-campus housing: 10 residence halls; three campus apartment buildings, and the International Center with programming that is interdisciplinary and international in perspective.
Fitness/recreation facilities: Lund Center for Fitness and Physical Education, complemented by the Swanson Tennis Center (six indoor courts), is a state-of-the-art facility featuring fitness and weight training areas, an indoor and outdoor track, competition and practice fields, a gymnastics studio, an ice arena, 24 outdoor tennis courts, artificial turf football stadium, 10-lane swimming pool and an indoor arena for basketball and volleyball.
Technology: 20 student-use labs with free access to IBM and Macintosh computers; high speed Internet access in all residence hall rooms; campus-wide wireless access for laptop users.
Internships: Two types of internships are available at Gustavus: January Term Career Explorations and regular semester or summer internships.
Career services: The Career Center at Gustavus helps students focus on what their future might be by offering information, opportunity, and support in learning career development and job search skills. The Career Center offers career counseling for students seeking to identify their interests, skills, and values, which are then used as a basis to discuss career options and possible majors. The Career Center also runs the Internship program. Finally, near graduation, students work with the career management team to seek employment, admission to graduate and professional schools, and other opportunities including volunteer services. Career management brings employers to campus, aids students in their participation in regional job fairs, and makes referrals for Gustavus students.
Counseling and guidance services: Gustavus assists students in their intellectual and personal growth by providing them with a faculty academic advisor. In the Curriculum I program the First Term Seminar professor serves as a student's first academic advisor, while in the Curriculum II program, a professor who teaches in the program serves as a student's first advisor. Once students have chosen a major they will select a new faculty member within that department.

Scholastic aptitude test: 25% of first-year students submitted the SAT as part of their applications. The middle 50% range of their SAT Math scores was 565-675; the middle 50% range of their SAT Verbal scores was 570-670.
American college test: 94% of first-year students presented the ACT as part of their applications. The middle 50% of enrolled students had ACT composite scores between 23 and 28.
High school rank: 98% of new entering students reported their high school class rank. Of those reporting, 34% were in the top tenth of their class; 68% were in the top quarter of their class; and, 94% were in the top half of their class.

High school preparation: College preparatory curriculum including: four years of English, four years of Math, four years of laboratory science, three years of Social Science and three years of a Foreign Language is strongly recommended.
Advanced placement credit: Candidates who score 4 or higher on the Advanced Placement Examination or 4 or more on the higher-level exams of the International Baccalaureate are given advanced placement with college credit.
Transfer process (deadlines and materials): The early action deadline for students wishing to transfer for the fall semester is February 15th. Students who wish to delay notification until later in the year may submit applications until April 15th. Students applying after April 15th will be notified as soon as their files are complete, but must realize that housing choices may be limited. Students who wish to transfer mid-year may apply to begin at the beginning of either January Term or Spring Semester. Students whose application files are completed by November 15th will receive the admission decision by December 15th. Those whose application files are complete by January 1 will receive the admission decision by January 15; the reply date for this option is February 1.
Transfer criteria (credits, GPA): Students who meet the following conditions may be considered for admission as a transfer to Gustavus: honorable standing at the previous college, including eligibility to return to the previous college in good standing; evidence of normal progress toward a degree; and, a recommended minimum cumulative GPA of 2.4 (on a 4.0 scale).
Campus visits: The Admission Office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. until noon on Saturdays, during the academic year.
