Duchess Harris, Associate Professor, American Studies, Macalester College |
Harris is an interdisciplinary scholar trained in American Studies. Her general area of interest is Twentieth Century African American political history. She has conducted research for the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights and was a Constituent Advocate for the late U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone. |
Harris' research interests include U.S. politics, African American political movements and the emergence of Black feminist theory and organization in the 1960s and 1970s, emphasizing sexuality and socio-economic status as points of conflict and coherence. |
