Barbara Schulz, Assistant Professor of Design, Minneapolis College of Art and Design |
Schulz is a professional comic artist and force behind MCAD's Comic Art major, one of the few in the world offered by a four-year college. She is a scholar of comic books, graphic novels and other comic and cartooning genres and formats. |
Schulz has worked on titles for Marvel, DC Comics and Dark Horse, among other leading comic publishers. She is also co-director of MCAD's annual manga and anime workshop, Schoolgirls and Mobilesuits (M.A., University of Wisconsin-Superior). |

Frenchy Lunning, Professor of Liberal Arts, Minneapolis College of Art and Design |
Lunning is a scholar of Japanese manga and anime, fluent in the history of the art forms as well as their cultural impact in Japan, the U.S. and elsewhere. |
Lunning received a Fulbright Fellowship to further her manga studies in Japan in Winter/Spring 2008. She is co-director of MCAD's annual manga and anime workshop, Schoolgirls and Mobilesuits. She is also founder and editor of Mechademia, the only academic journal dedicated to anime and manga. (Ph.D., University of Minnesota.) |
