James assumed leadership of the CEBC in 2000. The center assists business leaders in creating ethical and profitable business cultures at the organizational, community and global levels.

Before joining the CEBC, James was president and CEO of the Human Resources Group at Ceridian Corp. and corporate vice president and CEO for Minnesota at USWest.

T. Dean Maines, President, The SAIP Institute, Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas, (651) 962-4261, tdmaines@stthomas.edu

Maines helped develop SAIP (Self-Assessment and Improvement Process) that helps companies assess and enhance their ethical conduct. The SAIP Institute was launched in May 2007 and is supported by a recent $10 million gift from entrepreneur Harry Halloran Jr.

Maines is a former human resource executive with Cummins Inc. and served from 2001 to 2007 within the Opus College of Business as the research associate to the Koch Chair in Business Ethics.
