Augsburg College, Minneapolis

Advent Vespers Celebration, Dec. 4 at 5 and 8 p.m. and Dec. 5 at 2, 5 and 8 p.m., Central Lutheran Church, free
Celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season with traditional and contemporary hymns, anthems, and carols performed by more than 300 participants.

Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato

Christmas at Bethany, Dec. 5, 4 p.m., Trinity Chapel
The Bethany Concert Band, Concert Choir, Handbells and the Mary Martha Singers present this concert of sacred music of the season. Tickets are free but there is a free will offering during the concert.

Bethel University, St. Paul

Sing We Now of Christmas: A Festival of Carols Dec. 3, 7:30 p.m.; Dec. 4, 8 p.m.; and Dec. 5, 2 and 8 p.m., Benson Great Hall

Journey to Bethlehem

Share the grandeur of 425 student musicians performing in front of a magnificent mural. The concert will also be videotaped for national distribution on PBS.

Concordia University, St. Paul

Love’s Pure Light, Dec. 4, 7:30 p.m., Dec. 5, 5:30 p.m., Dec. 6, 3 p.m., Buetow Music Auditorium
The audience will hear Daniel Pinkham's piece, "Christmas Cantata," among other reflective pieces by the Massed Choir and Chamber Orchestra and participate in singing Christmas carols.

Gustavus Adolphus College

Christmas in Christ Chapel, A Liturgy of Love and Letters, Dec. 4, 7:30 p.m.; Dec. 5 and 6, 3:30 and 7:30 p.m.
Approximately 350 students, faculty, and staff bring the program to life each year, sharing music, dances, spoken word, and prayer with the Gustavus community.

Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, Winona

Lessons and Carols, Dec. 5, 7:30 p.m., Chapel of Saint Mary’s of the Angels, Saint Teresa campus
This celebration of Advent and the Nativity through sung and spoken word will be performed by the Saint Mary’s University Concert Choir, Chamber Singers and Women’s Choir.

Annual holiday concert by the Saint Mary’s University Concert Band, Dec. 6, 3 p.m., Page Theatre
The concert will include such classic favorites as “O Holy Night” and “Sleigh Ride.” A Christmas cookie reception in the lobby will include lively carols, performed by band members.

St. Catherine University, St. Paul

Candlelight Christmas Concert: Women’s Choir and String Orchestra, Dec. 5,  8 p.m., Our Lady of Victory Chapel
Joined by the College’s string orchestra, the Women’s Choir presents their annual evening of music for Advent and Christmas.

St. Olaf College, Northfield

2009 Christmas Festival: Light of All Creation, Dec. 3-5, 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 6, 3:30 p.m.
A service of hymns, carols, choral works and orchestral selections that celebrates the birth of Christ. Performances quickly sell out but MPR will present a live broadcast at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 on regional classical music stations stations including 99.5 KSJN in the Twin Cities. You can also hear an encore broadcast on December 20 from 8 to 10 p.m.

University of St. Thomas, St. Paul and Minneapolis

Tis Love That's Born Tonight, Dec 6, 4 and 7 p.m., Orchestra Hall
Seven of the Department of Music's vocal and instrumental ensembles will present choral and instrumental music for Advent and Christmas.

Augsburg College
